Wilder-Waite 5th graders build a half scale 1902 Wright Glider,  The students worked on various parts for the whole first semester,  First the students built the wing ribs.  After making about 30 ribs, they threaded them on the 4 wing spans, lining them up carefully. Next they placed the leading edge metal  tube and the trailing edge wood strip on the ribs.  The wing panels were then put together to make two large wings.  The students then built the elevator and rudder.  After sanding all the pieces, the covering was added.  The final assembly was completed by mid-January.  The sutdents learned a great deal about building models as well as the determination and perseverance of the Wrights Brothers.
